The mission of Special Olympics Ohio is to advance the global inclusion movement through sports, health education, and leadership programs that empower people with intellectual disabilities throughout Ohio.

Special Olympics Ashland invites you to “take the Polar Plunge our way,” and your involvement—for the event and all year long—plays a critical role in helping our athletes thrive. Every dollar raised goes directly toward providing year-round sports training and competition at no cost to our athletes.

Your contribution helps our athletes achieve their goals, live healthier lives, and experience true inclusion in the community. And if you’re looking for more ways to get involved down the road, we’d love to have you—whether that’s volunteering your time, helping at events, or even stepping into the role of a coach.

2026 is going to look a little different—and even more exciting—with the addition of a dedicated Plunger pool and our event moving to the Ashland County Fairgrounds. This new setup gives us more space, more energy, and an even better experience for our plungers, athletes, families, and supporters while keeping the mission front and center.

And of course… part of the fun is our notorious Polar Plunge Costume Contest so bring on the FUN, ENERGY, LAUGHS, and the spirit that makes this event unforgettable!
