WHY I TAKE THE PLUNGE
Every year, I take the plunge into icy waters?not for the thrill, but for something far deeper. I plunge for the athletes of Special Olympics Ohio. I plunge to help create opportunities that empower them, celebrate their abilities, and build a future where inclusion is not just a goal, but a reality.
As the Law Enforcement Torch Run Director, I?ve seen firsthand how Special Olympics transforms lives. It?s more than sports?it?s confidence, community, and hope. Fundraising through events like the Polar Plunge helps provide critical resources for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), giving them the chance to shine both on and off the field.
But my reason for plunging became even more personal when my daughter Lyla was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome. Lyla is one of our young athletes, and she reminds me every day why this mission matters. Her joy, resilience, and determination inspire me to fight for a world where every child?regardless of ability?has the chance to thrive.
I PLUNGE FOR LYLA! I plunge for every family walking a similar path. I plunge for a future where inclusion isn?t the exception?it?s the norm.
Thank you for supporting this cause. Your donation helps us build a better, more inclusive tomorrow for Lyla, for our athletes, and for families across Ohio.
